Was he just insane, or legitimately Divinely inspired? Those seem like the only two options at this point.

This might be a question better suited for /x/, but have any of you tried Bibliomancy? (That is, the practice of looking for insight and hidden truths on particularly significant numbered lines or pages, like 666 or the Prime numbers?) I know there's a few anons into occult practice, but haven't seen anything on this yet...

Blake isn't even a Romantic, he's a straight-up Gnostic prophet. Nobody seems to get this except Aleister Crowley, who had no idea what to do with it.

What is it about William Blake's work that makes him so different from other poets? I feel it, but can't articulate it - he seems to work more in the form of myth or something.

William Blake is your man. He can be "sweet" sometimes, but also dabbles in terrifying apocalypse, surreal mythology, urban misery and squalor, mystic vision and righteous fury.

From his early, deceptively simple period:

From his later, more batshit period:
