This is what happens when you have more workers than work. This exists in pretty much all Western countries. But it is less severe. This is the end result of Industrialization and technological society. Eventually you're left with large parts of society being useless. Even in places like construction because of unions you have of extra people there who don't contribute much or anything at all (i.e. women construction workers) apart from holding signs and resting against walls. Agriculture isn't any better since the need for manpower in farming has been reduced by orders of magnitude and even drones are being used. I can kinda get why people like Bill Gates and the elite are pushing for depopulation. Most people just aren't necessary for society to function. Most are just a burden.
