Yeah, I like Bloom. But Bloom only writes well when he actually knows what he's talking about: Shakespeare.
Pic related is pretty much the only Bloom book worth getting. Keep it on your shelf so you can crack it open to the corresponding chapter after you see some given Shakespeare play, to see what he said about it. As to everything else the guy has written: it's just self-important nonsense.
