Because I live in a capitalist society and I have an innate need to own property in order to elevate my self worth.
Most of the books I own are nonfiction. I want to start getting into Literature, but have little experience with reading hard literature. What is a book you guys can recommend for me to start with?
I have already but haven't read

what do you guys think about reading or writing really good summaries of non-fiction texts, especially philosophical/theoretical texts?

in the end, my understanding of a text is not the text itself but more like a summary of that text in my head. most of the time that summary is pretty brief

it would be nice if we could have really good summaries of things, so that each person wouldn't have to spend years going through all the standard literature

the point of reading is so i can understand things and then move on to read other things. does each person have to start with the greeks forever? can we simply stand on the shoulders of giants instead of reading their memoirs?
