Have there been any theses or essays written on the practice of >implication on 4chan? Any linguists or similar here have any thoughts?

I was going to post this onto a linguistics forum, but realised I'd have to spend an age going over examples.

I can't really define the style in which it's used, but it's instantly recognisable, and I think it plays a pretty important part in 4chan's subculture (even if only for shitposting).

To clarify, I'm talking about its use for implication, sarcasm, disagreement, etc. -- not when it's used in stories.
