Why are English departments at universities so shitty?
Literature courses are now about reading books by authors, minorities and bullshit postmodern critical theory. It's like they take pride in avoiding classics and important works.
I need an upper division class to take and my choices were basically Multi-ethnic Literature in America, Topics in Gender Studies, Multicultural Rhetorics, Immigrant Rhetoric, Contemporary LGBTQ Literature, and Literature by Women.

Some of my highschool classmates now are married, others have had children.
I want to be a writer in order to give a sense of all these years almost wasted with low wage jobs and closed in my childhood bedroom reading classics.
