Who are some people that write realistic characters/dialogue? John Cassavetes is really the only person I can think of that writes somewhat realistically. Looking for stuff that's non-flashy. I want awkward and honest; I want real, not good.

Yeah, but when an entire chapter, which is fairly early on in the book, is incomprehensible it sort of kills it for me.
