>You're making it sound like philosophy until now has only been a stepping stone to the philosophy of the present, rather than works in themselves that are worthy of reading and being given thought, or at least worthy of being knowledgeable about. The Greeks are quite enjoyable, and even something like scholasticism can be interesting regardless of whether you believe in christianity or not.
Not really, you are reading into it whatever you want because you're being defensive. But yes, it goes without saying that modern philosophy is more complex unless you're some fucking Aristotelian loser that can't get over the fact that it's progressed in the last 2000 years. Even the scholastics are way beyond the level of the Greeks.
>rather than works in themselves that are worthy of reading and being given thought, or at least worthy of being knowledgeable about.
Pure strawman, I never said this. Maybe develop some reading comprehension before you move on to reading philosophy.
>and even something like scholasticism can be interesting regardless of whether you believe in christianity or not.
Just the fact that you are saying "even scholasticism" shows that you have no idea what you're talking about, since continental philosophy in the present takes far more from the scholastics than it does from ancient philosophy.

>Are you suggesting that it's better to find philosophies that interest you without being able to properly understand them?
Are you going to understand them without reading them, nigger? What are you suggesting?

>I think novels need a middle-man distributor in an age where I can download a novel in 5 seconds
>I think being published matters when pretty close to 100% of the published novels in the past 10 years are now completely forgotten
>The most important part of my writing is getting a publisher to place a stamp of approval on what I've created, because I've come to writing to be Taken Seriously, and not actually say anything interesting that someone might read regardless of where they encounter it
>Despite believing all of these foolish things, I think I have the critical thinking skills to make a good novel

Also I don't know why you think I'm /pol/, /pol/ is worried to death about who gets published and who doesn't... despite not even writing.

Answered your own question with the first one.

We aren't.

I don't care about philosophy, it's a waste of time.

You're making the common mistake of caring what other people think, as well as associating with pseudo-intellectuals.

Stop wasting your time with philosophy.

Great thread.
