At what point are there diminishing returns to intelligence? I become clinically depressed if something even mildly goes wrong

I understand that Christianity and liberalism impose on me an abstract concept that I'm inferior to (God and Humanity respectively) and force me to resist being tempted by my self-interest to work for this concept's good. But genuine connections between two uniques have always existed, almost everyone has some friendship where they truly value the other person for what they are instead of just for having some property like being a Christian, or human. These connections are necessarily limited to a small number of people, it's impossible to ask one to do the same in relation to every other person in the world. Egoism of course doesn't demand you to do this, but in order to do any kind of collective or systematic action, you need these abstract concepts to at least have a common reference point for people to make ethical claims. Even if God may not exist, at least having God allows the repressed Christians in an intolerant country to have a source of meaning to band together, for example. These people then have a faith that they share with one another, that allows them to point out the unGodly actions of the state or the intolerant masses, to band together and make real changes in that society. If I instead choose to be an egoist in such a nation, to work for my self-interest alone, I inevitably face alienation, as now I lack the former community that allowed me to have connections even if they were done for the sake of a concept, and I also have to face the rest of society which doubt me for my former faith or treat me as just another person to exploit.

A lot of what Stirner gets at in his work is how Higher ideas (God, The State, capitalism, Communism, Socialism) are spooks in the sense that we hold their ends higher than ones own ends and interests.

Stirner's main idea in the E&IO / U&IP is that "one should base their affair on nothing but themself" so not any of the spooks/higher ideas mentioned before.

note on the translation - i think in general it's a little clearer but less fun, and the original wasn't unclear. wolfi could have at least left spook in with a note in the introduction that it means something like phantasm. and also, "bats in the belfry" is a an incredibly gay saying

We already live under anarchism. The key is defending something for yourself.

the biggest spooks of them all -
1. people don't act in self-interest.
2. self-interest is good or evil.

rid yourself of your mental illness(es) and start caring about yourself today.

I'm being sincere.

Metaphysics rests upon the superstition that our senses are in any way inaccurate - something we can never determine, as it is impossible to have a non-sensory experience.

We cannot impartially/objectively judge our sensory experience from 'without'.

Have there been any decent arguments against Stirner? I can't think of many flaws in his works.

Is the Marx critique worth reading into? I heard it resorts to name calling so I wasn't sure weather to avoid it.
