So, as a kid I loved the movies but hated to read. So yes I went into this having seen all the movies and already loving Harry Potter, but oh my god. I don’t know what I expected, I always just assumed people who said “the books are way better than the movies” were just saying that, but it’s absolutely true. I always somewhat disliked Order of the Phoenix, but after reading the book it’s tied for favorite with Deathly Hallows. That scene when (SPOILERS) Harry yells at Dumbledore after Sirius’ death had me SO emotional. Everything with S.P.E.W., the prophesy more explained, book Ron vs movie Ron, book Ginny vs movie Gunny. E-v-e-r-y-thing. And of course... the final. Battle. That CONVERSATION between Harry and Voldemort is something that was so missed in the films!

As I was reading them, I knew that I would never get this experience of reading through for the first time again so I honestly was conscious of savoring it.

So, moral of the story, if you’re an adult and haven’t read them but think they’re children’s books, READ THEM! The first 3 show the children’s side more because they’re younger, but oh my goodness 4 - 7 are unbelievably good.
