Just as a note, the part in Sword of the Lictor where Sev leaves Thrax, up to the point where he reaches lake Diuturna, is perhaps one of the best parts I've read in any book, ever. Especially the strangeness that is Typhon and that whole sequence of events.
I want more of that, which is why I enjoy Made in Abyss so much. Just traveling and uncovering secrets and meeting weird and strange characters, I enjoy that so much. Political fantasy with houses and wars and stuff is so nasty.

Also somewhat related, the parts in Aspect emperor with Achamian traveling the wilderness with his gang of scalpers, that was the best part in the whole Second Apocalypse books.

I see the problem with it. In m mind it sounded better but once I started talking about it, it was apparent how problematic it would be, or even mindlessly edgy and anime.

Oh well, I guess I'll stick to my fantasy hero's journey (not that there's anything wrong with the hero's journey)
I just wanted to develop my other ideas a little bit.
