I don't read. I haven't read a book in at least two years and even that was incel-lit. I am not a reader, though I consider myself one. Why?

I can't stand people who limit themselves to one genre/medium/scene/movement. We should all strive to be renaissance men. Stop making fucking philosophy threads and read a goddamn book. Go to /x/ and brush up on your occultism while you're at it. You really like Joy Division, The Smiths, and The Cure? Cool, throw some fucking anarcho-punk and ye-ye in your playlist to mix it up. Find the artistry in the films of Bresson, Antonioni, and Michael Mann. Watch musicals too. Stop being a comfortable fucking loser and basing your whole identity around one thing. Also, to the mod on /tv/ who banned me for making a thread with this image, you will NEVER make it.

What the fuck is happening

Is there a story (short or novel) where the main character bumps into someone who knows them but the MC doesn't remember or know who they are? And the rest of the narrative is the MC trying to work out who this mysterious person is to them? I feel like there is but I can't remember what it is.
