This thing was a bunch of fragments of garbage stories. Greek myths destroy these and it is clear to me why they are talked about and these aren't

Start with the Greeks isn't a meme, starting with the bronze age Sumerians is

Reading Gilgamesh without reading the rest of the Mesopotamian canon is definitely pseud cred, even though that Penguin edition of it is very nice

Does anyone know if there is significantly more to the text in Andrew George than the version of it included in this Oxford compilation? This one has a "normal" and "Old Babylonian" version, but I'm not sure if George's has more tablets.

Regardless,OP, this is a great compilation too and I recommend it if you're interested in the myths. Their myths are excellent, though I would say that the kind of enjoyment I get out of them is very different from that of the Greeks. The civilization they evoke is a lot more alien to our imagination, so they are more like discovering something lost and hidden than having your own try at something that a bunch of others have for years. But I was very moved and love the stories.

How can /lit/ claim to be /lit/erate when they haven't started with the Sumerians?
