i have a full-fledged method of annotation that i've developed over years and really, really works for me. certainly there are many worthwhile methods out there; i can only speak to my own. it helps me dissect a text fairly quickly in a way i can return to later on (and i annotate those texts i intend to return to and engage); as a result, i tend to vacillate wildly per reading/text--i take my time, underline, reflect, go back on certain sections, etc.
pointing to a consistent WPM or something like that would be really hard and wouldn't really represent what i do/how i read. it's all too dependent on what is being read, for what purpose, and so on.
if i am not reading for annotation purposes, if i am reading something like a work of fiction that i don't want to eventually teach/talk about, i can cover roughly a novel (e.g. something the size of mrs. dalloway, or remains of the day, etc.) in about a day. longer novels take longer; deeper novels take longer; etc.

i do not own a single book i have not written in/do not intend to write in and annotate.
