So lit, is Gide any good? Is he actually of any importance in the history of literature?

is The Immoralist worth reading?

Look no further than André Gide!

You must read The Counterfeiters and The Immoralist - these two are among the most beautiful novels I've ever read.

The man wrote so well you'd yearn to be a homo.

Fun fact: he and Proust used to hang out in Turkish baths and discuss how they'll pick up dudes for the night.

I goofed out and started with Afterthoughts on My Return from the U.S.S.R., is there a point in reading Return from the U.S.S.R since I'm reading a more thought out defense of the original opinions?

Besides that, what travel journals have you enjoyed? Do you have some sort of criteria to divide the insightful ones from the boring plotless void ones? Do you have any experience writing in those terms? Any advice?
