Parts of Jung's greatest hits that a Jung scholar thought were important all in one. You miss a lot of interesting digressions that have less to do with the main conceptual web from him reading this.

Don't waste your time with that. Only the first part was written by Jung. Start with the Portable Jung. The introduction alone covers Jung's early life, meeting and falling out with Freud, his early discoveries and so on.

Complete layman here...just bought this book. Is this a good introduction? I always hear Jung praised for his works so it piqued my interest.

It was a couple of books and my memory is a bit hazy. But pic related was my starting point. I remember focusing a lot of my attention to anything he had to say about the persona and shadow, since that was the most relevant material for me at the time. Though I would also highly suggest looking into his writings about the anima and animus as well.

That really is a coincidence, it was around 3 years ago for me as well. The summer into the winter of 2017.

>psychology and philosophy i really like.
You won't go wrong with pic related. And then there are so many readings you can branch out to from there. You might also consider building up your knowledge of myths and folk/fairy tales, as their narrative structures and character types often form the basis for Jung's observations (and those of like minded thinkers). Bulfinch's Mythology is a classic and still a solid choice, imo. For fairy tales, you can't go wrong with Grimm's and Hans Christian Andersen.

>Steampunk fantasy i like too
Eh, can't help you there.

I'm at psychological types which I wanted to skip but it's interesting, more esoteric than I thought it'd be.
