i will admit that there is an appeal to living in true wilderness, and there are probably some types of personalities that thrive in it.

however to most people living comfortably on acres of your own land is about as remote as owning a townhouse in manhattan. to most people, living 'outside the city' means a mcmansion in a grey commuter suburb or a trailer park outside of town.

living like a rat in an interesting slum does seem preferable to that
