I admire his endurance but I'd never be able to do that. He lived in abject poverty for a good thirty years and lost a couple wives before he was finally able to live off his writing. The way the protagonists in "Child of God" and "Suttree" live is not that far off from what he did on a day-to-day basis.

Feels bad

I dreamed I was a superhero and belonged to a clique of superheroes and we were doing superhero shit and I kept leaving in the middle of things saying "be right back" when I was really just hiding to drink and snort cocaine and I always arrived visibly intoxicated and the others kept whining and I kept asking what was my superpower because I kept forgetting I was the elastic man and at the end someone called me out on being a drug addict and I slipped below a door with my superpowers and I just woke up.

As background I genuinely struggle with addiction IRL and I've only been sober for a month.

Does that sound mildly entertaining? I keep having these vivid weird dreams (thanks mirtazapine). I used to have a dream journal but I stopped writing my dreams after I realized it made me considerably more depressed.

How do you write without sounding tryhard or edgy?

I have this mindset that everything I read that isn't known from a known author is just trying to be try-hard or edgy, this mindset also applies to the few things that I've written, am I just projecting?

I fear people who have read the bible. Religion seems so crazy like believing in Santa or the Easter bunny. If writing fiction or creating a world of fantasy, wouldn't third person be "better"?
