Scary thought. Eventually people will have to be okay with having less, maybe living in the woods in a hunter gatherer lifestyle, maybe using the robots as an assistance. Better than participating in scab society.

If mental labor becomes that cheap, it will be time to leverage it for use on our own, existing on our own, producing what we need with the guidance of gpt10 or whatever it will be. Building cabins, medicine, etc with the guidance of the most wise artifical being with petabytes of experience in everything.

The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect

One review with spoilers summarizes the protagonist's stupidity. Despite her flaws it's an enjoyable read.

The book never once shows that others are as depressed as Caroline. Most people seem to have adapted quite well, and most seem happy, as they should! It takes impressive feats of mental gymnastics to conclude that absolute freedom from hunger, anxiety, and pain would make people less happy. Caroline didn’t adapt because she is old and proud, not because she is a smarter, deeper philosopher. She is a hypocritical genocidal bastard.
The book was very well written and in many ways very interesting and thought provoking, but I just couldn’t get through the moronic ethics and stupid primitivism moral. This whole book is a 200 word example of the naturalistic fallacy. The world created by Prime Intellect was perfect, and it was ruined by two egomaniacal genocidal bastards, who doomed the human species to millennia of incestuous, primitive savagery.

This book will take you into another world and have you contemplating if we might suffer a similar fate.

This is the only book that I regret not reading the trigger warnings, the main character is absolutely vile, humanity has become immortal, she finds no value in anything so she tortures herself, lops off her head, has a red anthill put on her flayed skin for shits and giggles.

You will be disgusted but you will feel something.
