Why are the classical "dystopian future" scenarios always displayed as bad?
I would love to waste away my life with drugs and no intellectual challenges in a world without real conclicts or strong opinions. I'm not even trying to sound edgy here, but that sounds like a easy life. Fahrenheit for example. Sure, no books, even for entertainment, would suck. But other parts of the scenario wouldn't be as bad as portrayed.
