>finished a new chapter of the fantasy novel I'm writing
Feels good. How's your's coming along, /sffg/? You are writing your own novel instead of just impotently complaining about the state of sf/f, right?

My book, when it's finished. I have an entire story arc dedicated to a troupe of archaeologists, focusing on one character's transformation to a green academic to a rugged swashbuckling pulp hero.

I fantasize about getting the book I'm writing trad published and get a distribution run at B&N. Then I'd buy my own book from the book store and gift it to my mother to reveal I had been writing a book in secret and all those times I groaned when she told me I should write something, I was actually writing something just for her.

>Afraid the worldbuilding of my project is too autismal
>Read popular series with even more autismal worldbuilding
>Worried my writing might be too indulgent
>Reading popular book where author adds 150 unnecessary pages of superfluous content just to jerk himself off
The more I read, the better I feel about my writing. We're all gonna make it, fellas.

I spent my 20s working at various levels of the beer industry (retail, bartending, brewing) so I ended up knowing a fuckton about beer and the brewing process. It also helps that expensive beer is the price of cheap wine. What a wonderful drink. Too bad it makes me sleepy.

Honestly, I think I'd be content with self-publishing and gifting my book to friends and family.
I'm writing a novel in secret because my parents have been telling me I should be a writer for the past 30 years and if I ever finish it, I could self-publish it on amazon, order a physical copy and give it to my mother as a xmas or birthday gift.
Surprise! Every time I grumbled "I dunno..." when you and Dad told me I should write something, I was writing a novel in secret just for you! I hope you like it :)

Refute me.

1) Every spatiotemporal occurrence (henceforth 'event') is singular;
1.1) Singular here means irreproducible;
1.2) Events have infinite characteristics
2) Men form ideas from being exposed to a finite number of events;
2.1) Ideas are necessarily general;
2.2) Each individual forms its own idea using their own criteria for which characteristics are idealized;
3) Linguistic expressions are events (they occur in space and time)
3.1) Linguistic expressions are the only link between events and ideas
3.2) Since linguistic expressions are events, they also have infinite characteristics
3.3) Each individual will, therefore, interpret his kin's linguistic expressions differently
4) Meaning is a matter of convention
5) The only way to control meaning is through authority such as when a court of law says a certain term means such and such.

It was nine in the morning when his alarm clock went off. The bedroom was more silent than normal. He usually woke up to the humming of his outdated CPU in the background, or the loud sound of the air-conditioning system's fan. He fumbled the bedside table in search for his phone and, upon finally finding it, saw that there was no Wi-Fi signal. The power was out. "Shit," he thought. The sweat had accumulated overnight underneath his thick blanket, and the air was damp and smelled like worn socks and masturbation napkins. He sighed and mustered the strenght to get out of bed and let the wind and the sun take over his room. The rest of the apartment was equally silent. He didn't feel like taking a shower or brushing his teeth. Instead, he went directly to the kitchen and, after making pots and plates cling together, he found an old paper filter. It was time to prepare drip-brew coffee. He chose a top-shelf powder and used a table spoon to carry it to the filter. Then, poured hot water and waited. Small drops of black tar started to plink and plonk on his cup. Deprived of his number one past-time, a Korean plumbing imageboard, he sipped on his coffee and actually sat down and read Heart of Darkness in one sitting. Shit was so cash.

>>"Left" and "right" things will typically (with a very good interval of confidence) lead to different environments, and right wing politics would considerably increase my utility function.
>implying right wing people can enjoy things
if you go the utilitarian route you have to concede the game to the left, as most of them are useless utility monsters, so it would make sense to keep conservatives working and give the money to leftists to enjoy it

anyway utilitarianism is wrong
