disdain and disgust

“Optimistic nihilism“ is a practice, a desperate quagmire, in the art of metacognition a la incessantly lying to oneself about your most fond and personal ontological intuitions at best and a paradox at worst. Nihilism rallies against the deepest intuitions of the human spirit - our stark will for purpose, structure, and belonging - and turns the individual into an unanimated husk against their better volition. This is not an optional process. The most foolhardy endeavor I ever ventured on was to become unwittingly oriented with materialist nihilism and to LARP as if it were possible to find fulfillment under such auspices. The truth is, nihilism simply does not comport with human nature. There are many paths one can take after this realization, the most childish of which being to pretend that there is any kind of internal peace to be found therein. I can almost admire the bravery of it if it weren’t in truth naivety masquerading as magnanimity.
