Considering how the original Watchmen comic book as written by Moore attempted to deconstruct the superhero archetype and its literature, does the film now have more relevance as the genre of superhero films seems to exponentially increase in size as time passes?

Invariably, it was both a eulogy and celebration of the classic comic book age - impossible to fully transcribe to a screen. But the film's themes were essentially the same, albeit bereft of the weight of comic book literature.

Does /lit/ agree, or am I a massive faggot?

I have to write a literary analysis paper on Watchmen. Does anyone have a good/interesting idea for a thesis I could flesh out? The paper is short, under 750 words.

It seems to me that there should really be more critical analysis of comics now that we've got good writing (Watchmen, Maus, Persepolis, Pride of Baghdad) and such a rich history of contributors (Kurtzman, Lee, Moebius, Moore, Tezuka). McCloud has already started building theories of comic criticism and such, so why aren't we seeing more of it?

If you dislike comics, please defend your stance maturely--that is, without trolling.
