How the hell am I supposed to read this book? It is boring as all fuck and doesn't even make sense most of the time. Like why does it go off on tangents listing a ton of people that are literally mentioned nowhere else in the book?

Ok, so how do I go about reading this? Should I marathon it from beginning to end? Or go one book at a time?

So we had a really comfy thread recently about the best version and translation of the Quran. Now I'd like to know what's the best version, and English translation of the Bible. Is it best got get it on Latin?

What specific parts of The Bible do I have to read so I'm not missing anything when reading the great works of literature? Is there a guide anywhere for this?

This is actually a surprisingly pleasant read. Bit of a slog with the genealogies if I'm honest, but otherwise it's comfy.

How do I read this without accidentally falling into carelessness or heresy?

Christianity and the bible is an often talked about topic here for the obvious controversies it inspires but what I want to know is why is it that its so popular as a book? Why is it on the /lit/ top books of all time? What makes it special from other religious texts?

Is it the stories or what they inspire? Or do people ACTUALLY believe in the metaphysical aspect of things like God and the holy spirit and its power, I've never been able to understand this aspect.
