+ the prose
+ Stoner himself
+ his unstable, spiteful wife
+ life at the college / uni
+ so sad

- the middle section with the troubled student
- often the prose is a bit too simple, a bit too plain
- so sad

Overall, really good book. Can see why it's (finally) caught on.

What the fux?

Why wouldn't this board like writing. It's a literature board. We want to become good writers, and maybe one day get published. I suppose there are lots of bad writers on here, but A. there are probably a few good ones, and B. why shouldn't even the bad writers enjoy their hobby?

That post was straight out of left field.

How does an author even begin to write a novel this great? The very good jokes, the sheer complexity of the timeline, all the different people, to say nothing of the robust length?

Not including The Metamophosis (which many consider a novella, anyway).

For me, his micro-fiction about the guy sitting by himself in the cafe. I wanted to copy and paste it from Google, but surprisingly, I couldn't find it. You know the one.

I won't say the disadvantages, since those are obvious, so I'll least the advantages.

- Hell of a lot cheaper
- More portable
- Less to go wrong
- You get to a physical copy straight away
- Super hipster

Things I liked.

>Klara Sax
>All the art stuff, which was mostly (I suppose) to do with Klara Sax
>The journey of the baseball
>The section about the guy testing new weapons in a desert bunker, his guilt, and the effects of the weapons
>Poor people in the Bronx, and all the horrible stuff that happens to her
>Nick Shay and Klara Sax's affair
>How the chronology generally goes backwards
>The dialogue

Stuff I disliked:

>A lot of the Nick Shay stuff
>The dreadful opening, which I'm sure most people loved and thought was 'epic' and 'iconic' (perhaps you have to be American to like it)

Overall, a good novel. I'd like to discuss it actually (without trolling), because there are still some plot points and things I didn't understand.

Any genre, any writer, but fairly modern, i.e. lst 111 years.

In return, nothing.
