I should add, that once you are entrenched in the psychology of escapism mixed with waifuism, you become disillusioned with the real world and real people. To the extent that you see the anime world, and anime characters as an ideal realm. Its for this reason that I noticed many who get seriously into waifus wishing to die in their sleep, because they genuinely believe they will ascend into a magical 2D realm where things are better. They believed that through death, they could finally unite with their waifu. Speaking personally, I can say when I was really into this stuff, I couldn't even find real women attractive. 2D girls seemed superiors to me in every aspect, because they lacked the flaws of reality. Even after I left that community, it probably took me 2 - 3 years before I started to find real girls attractive again.

I love stories with sad endings but my family already thinks i'm a neet nazi, for simply buying a german flag while being a kraut myself.

What I don't like about the discussion surrounding video games as art is that just about the only thing anyone ever considers is the story and what it "means" and what "messages" it has. This mentality has led to people praising somebody's piss in a jar while ignoring beautiful paintings.

Plenty of art goes into the aesthetics of video games. Pixel art and chip music are even unique products of video games.
