What are some books about regret or which deal with the theme? With characters that regret an action they have committed (or not committed)

I want to properly learn history, how do I start? I always liked it in school and college but never went to deep into it. Not just different periods (that too,) but also what historians do. Open to reading academic sources, not just pop history jared diamond shiz

Op here. Alright, since no one really seems to be interested in this, I'll go and buy one when I'm in Belgrad for a book fair. I'll read it and leave my review on here, but please keep in mind that I'n quite the brainlet.

I just really want to find what someone who has a degree in law or something thinks about this... The Balkan political situation is very interesting to me, but as I said - I'm a brainlet and have no education on anything really.

What are some famous philosophers' (for ex. Plato) views on alcohol and what are their drinking habits? Any interesting facts? What did they think about alcohol, how much did they drink? Any well known drunks?
