Hey /lit/. I'm looking for the word/philosophical school that describes someone who doesn't believe in God, but believes that the universe must have been created by something unknowable, outside of observable reality. (I use the word 'created' here, but it's not supposed to imply intent).

What if the point of this 1000+ page book is to build up to the ultimate climax and then troll you by never resolving it.

It's a really superb novel, but certainly not deserving of the BEST NOVEL OF ALL TIME from Harold Bloom.
