Is technology/technological improvement its own entity? In the sense that it turns us into automatons that must become productive not by choice but due to necessity? Because a group that lags behind in technology will sooner or later be replaced by the group containing more productive soulless bugmen capable of producing higher tech?
tl;dr, is technology becoming a darwinian process through which natural selection can happen at increasing speed?

>You would think those who are well read would be very aware of the inherent brutality of nature and selfishness of man, no?

Lack of real world experience made worse by thinking that literature is an appropriate substitute and taking everything they read at face value without critical thought (i.e., the books they read make up their worldview).

Let's say you're 20 years old, and you start traveling. You go to a foreign country, live there for a maximum of 2 years and then move to another country.

Could you theoretically learn a great number of languages this way?

>get intoxicated, but especially be drunk
>religion starts making a lot of sense

>become sober
>cringe at the night's retarded religious sentiment fueled by booze

I'm not sure if this is an argument for or against religion, i.e. whether the fact that only a gimp-brained drunkard appreciates it is an indictment, or is proof that modern life is so shit that it takes an altered consciousness to return to even the smallest shred of the sublime truth that people knew before these hellish times. what do you think?
