Are there any good W40k books? Someone suggested The Founding: A Gaunt's Ghosts trilogy as a starter but a starter for what, I'm not sure, because there's hundreds of 40k books. I'd be interested in any decent philosophical book about endless war and consequences of genetic engineering/man-machine merging/the soul of AI.

I’d say his prose is very good and suits his stories particularly well. There’s an energy to a lot of Conan, Kull, and Solomon Kane stories that goes beyond plot and shows why Howard is the master of the genre he helped create.

I aim for 500 a day on one story. Sometimes I get a lot more, sometimes a little less. I feel you about the fretting over word choice, though.
