What the fuck is this bullshit. Holy fuck. I know this chapter is supposedly hated by first time readers, and I was no exception here. This brought the book to a grinding halt for me, and felt like so out of place and just shit.

I truly got nothing from this chapter what so ever.

I know the only answer is that it might change on a second reading, but for now all I can do is take that on faith because my direct experience with it was that it was a huge scoop of shit in an otherwise masterful work of prose.

How is it that almost all of the most popular contemporary works of fiction are written by women? I looked at the Goodreads list and it's a female author after a female author after a female author.
