Why is Max Stirner's philosophy so overlooked upon? Why didn't it become the 21st philosophy of mass?

We have billions of nihilists in this world, but almost zero egoists. There is a huge difference between "nothing matters" and "only I matter". We have crowds and crowds of humans shouting "nothing matters, morality is an illusion" yet they refuse to do evil deeds for their own pleasure, not because of some conscious sense of right and wrong but because of the intrinsic morality, or, better said, pudency, carried by men. Being an egoist is fighting against it, becoming almost an ubermensch.

Why, then, is it completely ignored?

Ok so let's settle this
Trough science have humans actually found the set of rules that the universe, laws of physics, chemistry etc. follow? Or have we merely come up with some rules and applied them to the phenomenom we observe and said: there, that looks about right. An example:
A group of tribal jungle niggers see a plane flying over. They understand that everything they know about high-flying birds also seemingly applies to this plane they are seeing. So they agree together that what they're seeing is a bird as it obeys the rules of birds. But the reality is different.
Nietzsche wrote something about this iirc
