I await the coming of the night,
The night that will come, cold, abrupt,
Longing for our bodies,
Inexhaustible, unpronounceable,
Hard on our heels and minds
as might a blind man's dream.
In colour and in sounds we make our daytime nests;
later we huddle, full spent, in the dusk,
resigned to watch time unfurl its sails,
twist itself around our wrists,
taut and hard like ropes about to snap
(not iron but something harder)
at the foaming song of the sirens.
And we have no choice but to be borne,
quiet or screaming,
fiat nocte! or meekly like lambs,
sheepish or mauling, smiling always,
for ours is the night and yours is this body,
both to envelop in darkness as unto a veil.

"Fantasy" is such a broad and sweeping genre that you could easily include half of Goethe and all of the mytho-poetic tales. What is Nibelrung except very, very old fantasy?

You only think this way because you have a-priori defined Fantasy as a genre with no literary merit, so obvious things which should be included within it must not be included because they by definition can't be.

This is a stupid way of going about it. I don't even acknowledge the distinction between Fantasy and Science Fiction, they're permutations on the same genre.
