Lord of the flies: any good? I recently read it and although I liked it I guess I thought it was sort of ridiculous, the fact that at the end Ralph who is around 11, "cries for the darkness of the human heart" and Simon who is even younger states that the boys are the beast.

I also didn't think it was so deep. To me it seems pretty straight forward as long as you understand the ideas between tyranny and freedom of speech.

Anyone want to give me some in depth analysis of Piggy of Lord of the Flies in preparation for my exam tomorrow. I can't seem to write it properly and everything on teh interwebz is too general. Also: I love this book.

I just finished reading Lord of the Flies for my third time, earlier, and a thought sprung to mind:

If something of this nature were to happen in real life (children stranded on an island, where they're free to do whatever they want, with no outside influence), how do you think it would play out, assuming they didn't die of malnutrition/dehydration within the first few days.

My father thought Lord of the Flies was only about some kids on an island.
