Books that pot smoking neo liberal MILFS who live near or in San Francisco read. This is such overrated tripe. It’s not even that deep and is a surface level narrative of an adolescent growing up. It’s quite boring to be blunt, just a bunch of word fluff & exposition without any real character study. I don’t care for Holden Caulfield & couldn’t understand why anyone would.

What was your biggest disappointment about a book?
Pic related. I didn't think it was bad. I think it was good, but I was totally expecting something revolutionary, something that would make me want to sit for the next hour and think about it, something that would make me see something I've never seen. But it was some hipster story and trying to find a meaning of life (in 3 days?) in New York. Disappointed because all the critics I've read about the book said it was some revolutionary masterpiece. Well. Yeah.

Let's talk about The Cather in The Rye.

I'm extremely amused by the language and the way Holden acts in general. It's kind of distracting actually.

Okay, so I finally read this and I must say that it's fucking horrible. What's even worse is that everyone is praising this to be some kind of work of a genuis.
I even regret paying for this book.
I'm not trolling but I sure as hell am mad.
What is it that I'm supposed to like with this book?

Just finished re-reading this. I'm annoyed that people hero-worship Holden.
He is insightful, but no more so than any angsty 16 year old.

Why do people love him so much? Is it just to seem intelligent?
