I was going to reply to this post as me LARPing as a mighty khan but instead I'll just tell you that I've always though the great plains of America was a similar environment to the steppes of Eurasia and the various native tribes weren't too different from the nomads of the steppes, even if horses weren't introduced to them until the 1500s. I've always thought that if history turned out differently, there would be "khanate" across the great plains of north America, sandwiched between the mountains to the east and west. I don't know what your visions mean, but it's interesting to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that the great plains are like the steppes, even if your understanding is a bit more mystical than mine.
