Eternal recurrence isn't motivated by physics or physical thinking at all. It is motivated by an inner sense of the order of being; of the justice (or lack of justice) in the order of things. It's Nietzsche's whiny moodiness spread over metaphysics. I recommend Augustine for a better view.

Paglia is right. It's a recurring theme. Augustine cites the Roman intellectuals themselves who think that, after securing their safety by conquering Carthage, their demise was ensured because now they were free to luxuriate, the men became effeminate and lost all the virtue that made Rome what it was.

Even Church Fathers say that the stories should be taken (possibly) as just allegories. The question is whether you care about how literal they are meant to be, and if you can nevertheless find value in them.

You sound like an insufferable dipshit. Read a fucking serious book or two and make a plan to get your shit together by the time you are 30.

Read Augustine. Augustine's view is that matter is created out of nothing by God. It isn't God, material things in the natural world are not "part of God" etc., but they are all created by God. Then circle back to Plato and Plotinus.

> ultimate brainlet

I think the ultimate brainlet new filter is this pagan revivalism thing spinning up. They also try to motivate it with this ridiculous charge that "Christianity is jewish." They don't realize they are heading into charted waters and that once they have to explain to dad what they think, it's going to be a laugh-out-loud comedy of pathetic confusion.

/lit, if you haven't read Augustine's City of God, you are missing out on the ultimate historical dunk against absolutely brain-dead pagan stupidity. Page after page is full of literal humiliation doled out to that worm-eaten facsimile of theology, from their own vantage. Check it out.
