If the ancient classics are so important why are they written in dead languages?

I feel like pendulum of the two thousand year old reverence for Aristotle is swinging towards Plato. cannot rationalize this, maybe it is making me thing this because I keep coming across Plato references from mathematicians and physicists often.

Plato and Aristotle were so unbelievably smart. The jump of knowledge from before their era to when they lived is immeasurable. It's easy to believe they were divinely inspired somehow.

Start with the Greeks

Plato and Aristotle is all the philosophy you really need. Everything after that is just weird deviations for deviants, edge-lords, and intellectual masturbators.

So what was the actual IRL relationship between them like? Was Plato especially fond of Aristotle, or was the latter just one of many students that came and went?

They raise the standard for truth so high, that I'm convinced that only such a thing as a Platonic form or an Aristotelian substance can meet the criteria.
However since these entities can't be shown to exist, skepticism seems to be only game in town.

Plato was a pankration champion (and Socrates a Peloponnesian war vet) and Aristotle wifed a qt half his age and also taught Alexander the great. So you know they're both chads.

When I started my English degree I expected everything before about 1850 to be boring af but the Renaissance is by far the best period of english literature and probably world literature. Ended up doing my dissertation on classical influence on the period and spent a year reading Aristotle and the Greek tragedians alongside Shakespeare, Marlowe and Milton. Great times
