What you need is Objectivism. Search up Ayn Rand. Start with The Virtue of Selfishness. If you seek to know of her, read her fully. If you find her repulsive, you misunderstood her.

You will find that life has an objective purpose. Do not seek a subjective purpose in living, such as to improve the human race. Focus on yourself. You'll have to read more by yourself to hear more on this.

I have a question about Ayn Rand.

Rand stated that man has an inherent value - that is that he cannot be arbitrarily wronged for no reason at all, that he has human rights - because he has the capacity to reason.

Why is this the case? Isn't the "capacity to reason" an arbitrary distinction between man and non-man animals?

Ayn Rand merely asserted that altruism is immoral when it is seen as a major moral ideal.
Individuals of whom engage in altruism for their own enjoyment are not deviating from morality.

What is altruism? It is self-sacrifice for the welfare of others. It is not defined as kindness or courteousness.

How does one achieve it? That is when its flaw becomes apparent. How does one further the world? Is it through racial purity, through the conquest of foreign land and extermination of the natives? Is it through coerced egalitarianism and elimination of the bourgeoisie?

Is altruism anti-selfishness? Yes.

What is selfishness? It is the means through which one survives.

Altruism therefore abnegates the means through which one survives--a vile ideology.

This is not a bait thread.

What books should a complete social recluse that never goes outside save for the bare necessities and has surplus time spend it reading?

I enjoyed Stoner by John Williams a lot. I've also read a bit of Ayn Rand and she's very motivating. What else should I read to turn my life around and start to value being a loner instead of being ashamed every time a girl walks through my vision?
