I was also a bit confused by the curse that God placed upon mankind before the flood; Apparently he made it so that the ground would not be fertile, and farmer's wouldn't able to make crops grow, anyone know what that was all about? All I understood from the text, was that God rescinded the curse after the flood, and allowed agriculture to function again in a normal way. Was it simply a curse that Cain incurred as a punishment (Cain being a tiller of the soil) after slaying his brother Abel, or was there more to it?
