french is literally the worst language I know of, and I know fucking Polish. It's in a absolute middle-ground that makes it unwieldy, boring and unaesthetic as hell.
It doesn't have the modularity of the German, Latin or Russian but is plagued by suffixation. It can't match the plasticity of the English language that would allow for novel yet understandable uses of words. It doesn't embrace vowels like Italian or Spanish do, instead relying on bland and uniform sounds.
The fact I was born and currently live around people who blabber endlessly in this pathetic excuse of a language makes me fight the urge to sew their mouths shut everyday. That's not even accounting for the fact that french literature and philosophy has always been a complete shitshow inexplicably graced by the likes of Maupassant or Baudelaire that were hampered by the very words they had to use. I wish their works had been originally written in any other language.
The only case I know of a decent prose using french is Fernand Braudel. It remains a mystery to me how an historian, as opposed to a writer, could somehow make a readable text in this insult to humanity that is the french language.

One travels; one takes himself intact. With a will. One is a coherent being – needing nothing from the place one travels to but food, shelter and most importantly that the place one visits appears and in appearance yields a confirming example of one’s sentience. Or one travels in disarray, undone, a consciousness formed around displacement, needing nothing that one can put a finger on, needing a center.
(D. Brand, Map to the Door of No Return, 2001, p. 92)

Does this actually mean anything? How the fug can someone confirm their own sentience any any meaningful way other than simply thinking a thought.

Why the fug do people write like this? Why to Humanities professors cite shit like this, with no explanation, and expect me to take anything away from it besides the notion that my teacher is edge-master-flex?

Chris McCandless was a complete moron. He learned no basic survival skills and possessed no basic survival tools before going into a harsh foreign environment and essentially going "I OUTDOORS NAOW."

I hate that he's been idolized as an adventurer or a strong freewilled person. He's was nothing more than an idiot who thought living in the woods would be a joke, or he had a mental disability and seriously underestimated what living in the woods would be like. In case anyone asks about what basic survival training/equipment is
>Buying of the area
>Learning how to skin and preserve meat
>Getting an idea about ANYTHING in the area
There's more I'm sure but it's been so long since I've read the book and I'm just so filled with rage when anyone says anything about him in a positive manner because I know what survivalism is and he was just a retard.

Hey /lit/

I am writing four-panel style comedy manga and have written about 170 sketches so far, but I am running out of ideas.

Can any-one help me write something funny with three males, one is extreme introvert, one is annoying, the other is gentle giant?

If I am in the wrong part of 4chan, I will happily GTFO if you show me where to go.

There I still was though, tugging violently now as the celluloid loosely shook in spasms from my underarm. My body was half-way up, but that imaginary voice got louder and the turtle seemed right in my ear like my own voice was blending with her's saying, "you can't do it, I can't do it, you can't do it." The sweat was rolling, trouncing in meadows of folds in the greasy toga sized shirt I wore, and it pooled deep into the pores of that moment. In a lubed up panic, the rage exploded in my mind first; I imagining punching the turtle, hopeless and on it's shell and all I can see is my hands freeing themselves from the table leg to continue punching it constantly, but it's not screaming in a turtle voice nor the woman's voice but like a baby screaming out in malformed words. Fists pounding still and, by the mocking fury, the screams of the turtle talk rhythmically with the beats - "you you can't beat do beat this you beat can't do beat beat this.." - until the turtle suddenly is gone. I'm left punching the shell, but I don't want to stop. I want to see that turtle die.

anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did

Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain

children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more

when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her

someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream

stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)

one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was

all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.

Women and men(both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain

>The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

At first, before Earth "ended", I thought the book was comical and would be lots of fun; but once Arthur and Ford were catapulted into outer space, the storyline just skewed into something horrible and nerdy. The humor was terrible and dorky. It was just awful. The only reason I stuck with the book because it was only 142 pages long. In fact, the only interesting parts were Adams' explanations on why dolphins and mice were superior to the human race.

Maybe some hard-core nerds out there will like this book. I hope I never waste time on anything so horrible ever again.

I'm trying to write a novel but having trouble getting started. I like to write and have several good plots I could use. The problem is I keep getting held up on the introduction. I either get caught up in the details and it gets to wordy, or it ends up missing some details. I think I could get it done if I could just get through the opening. Any recommendation on how to write a good intro.
