Question for /lit/

I read a fantasy novel as a child, I know the plot involved a prince from high altitude mountains being sent to a tropical/beach setting after the murder of his parents. He became like a good swimmer due to the altitude change and had great stamina.

He was also great at fighting with a knife (a racial trait lol) and eventually fought in like an arena/pit setting.

This is all i remember from my childhood but help a guy out if you remember the title
