Edgyness is when a teenager who would never do anything his parents disapprove of posts about the darkness cunsuming his soul on an internet forum, not even realizing that he's just parroting something he picked up from watching too many chinese cartoons. In the context of fiction, these kinds of statements a character makes about their 'dark side' can be edgy when words are clearly being put into their mouths for the sake of controversy or appeal to a specific audience, eventhough they aren't justified.
