How did great authors cope with ending a relationship ? I know that formulated like this, the question seems very vague but maybe you could share some anecdotes and etc. to help me overcome this pain. (accidentaly posted this under another thread, apologies)

How does /lit/ feel about Beckett. I know he's better known for his plays, but I've recently read some of his novels and found them very interesting in style and content.

Hey /lit/

I loved Molloy, but started Malone Dies and was bored by it, so I gave up after 20 pages or so. This was a few months ago already.

I'm now getting the urge to try more Beckett. Would you advise against going into The Unnamable without having read Malone Dies, or will it not matter?

>inb4 just read Malone Dies, it's so short
I'm quite a slow reader so the feeling of wasting time bothers me too much for that.

How did Beckett come to be Joyce's apprentice? I wish I could just write my dear Tommy Pynchon a letter and get him to teach me everything he knows. Is it still possible? Obviously Pynchon is a bad example...but you know what I mean. You don't often hear about writers apprenticing other writers these days...
