How do you read while depressed? I'm in the middle of that room temperature, bored, everything is gray who even gives a shit kind of depression.

I want to learn, I like learning and it's useful for me, but I can't get myself to absorb information when I can't give a shit. For the life of me I can't figure out how to give a shit about anything right now. Every time I turn the page my brain just shouts that this is a perfect opportunity to put the fucking torture device down. I can't retain shit and get bored so unbelievably fucking easily.

How do I deal with this?

Well, it is the exact opposite with me. I would be considered a show off and a waste of time if I were to even hint to someone I read philosophy (I'm a STEM major) and I read it purely to reflect on the human condition by myself. Even when I find some idea so interesting that I HAVE to share it with someone irl, I tell them "I saw a YouTube video and the guy was saying how...", because people in the past have said to me how I waste so much time reading useless shit and that this is the reason I don't have a gf and am socially handicapped, so I just don't go there anymore.

Should I still study classics if I read through most of the Ancient Greek and Roman canon? Would it be better to go back to university to study philosophy then?
