i think it has to do with the type of people who tend to immigrate, and it applies to muslims as well as traditional categories of immigrants to north america. i'm a first gen immigrant to canada.
immigrants are more likely to be extroverted, pushy people who value material comfort above all else, and this psychological profile is reflected in the way of life that has come to define this continent.
the proof of this is (my personal opinion) that north american culture is mostly shit, period.
