What lyricists have verse that holds up as literature? Are great songwriters great poets are are these skills that don't translate as well as we'd think? Leonard Cohen stands out as a middling poet and writer who's nonetheless very effective as a lyricist, is this kind of mediocrity on the page universal?

good book. I loved the 2spooky ghost story bit on the moors
and his meeting with david bowie that goes something along the lines of:

"Morrissey, I've had so much sex and drugs I can't believe I'm still alive."

I said to David, "I've had so little sex and drugs I can't believe I'm still alive."

what did you think of it OP? i really liked the style and got completely drawn in; read it from when it arrived at 8:30am and finished it at like 6:15pm. i do think the courtroom scene dragged on a bit, and i didn't learn anything i didn't already know ('cept his gay lover), but it still mesmerised me none the less.
