What should I do if my professor isn't giving me any useful feedback on my writing?

There were two large essays due this past quarter, the first of which, when returned to me, received a very good score, accompanied by quite a bit of criticism from the prof. The second one, due at the very end of the quarter, received a perfect score with absolutely no feedback at all.

It was a good essay, but it really wasn't worthy of a perfect score. What's going on here?

You're confusing a good book with a masterpiece. It's a good read, but not as good as you had probably purported it to be.

Plath's prose isn't the main reason why people read that book.
