The discussion on [board] keeps getting worse and worse. I sometimes contemplate getting a discord and exploring that option, but that would be persistant-identity social media and therefore an enormous timesink, and most posts would be some sort of drama.

Again this is completely vapid modernism, finding yourself by traveling, live, laugh, love. If as you say the goal is interiority it would not be external to you in the first place. How does one pass from the external to the internal? No don't answer—you will just cite more guenonian catechism. With the world being as small as it is today thanks to communication technology, there is no point in pretending to be Alexander or Xuanzang or whoever in order feel more authentic about the information you collect.
