Progressivism is a form of humane liberalism that seeks a continual expansion of what constitutes as natural rights in a civil society. It is the dialectical product of conservatism. Progressive politics expand as generations, die, and pass on, due to the changing empirical attributes of civil societies' demographics, geography, and bureaucracy who's interests need to be reflected by its laws to ensure fluid stability in its institutions. Progressives are people who tend to experiment with different alternatives of guiding civil life.
Reactionaries, conservatives, as history shows, tend to fail since they can not adapt to the changing conditions of the current moment. Even modern "liberals" are vulnerable.
Mind you, reactionaries have always bickered, moaned, and screeched at progress, but they always fail. Just as monarchism fell, just as communism fell in Eastern Europe - progressive aims, once they are released into the world, can not be halted as people are aware of the implications of these "rights" being in their interests.

What are you talking about, retard? Democracy and capitalism have expanded ever since the Berlin Wall fell. Progress isn't linear, and Fukuyama has never said that.
